Cheteshwar Pujara, the cornerstone of India’s middle order, has officially retired from international cricket. His last appearance for India was in the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia. Following a disappointing performance, the selectors dropped him from the team.

Known for his resilience at the crease, Cheteshwar Pujara’s journey both on and off the field has captured public interest. Beyond his cricketing exploits, his personal life story, including his arranged marriage to Puja Pabari and her successful career as a businesswoman and author, paints a fuller picture of the man behind the legend.

The story of Cheteshwar Pujara and Puja Pabari began as a typical arranged marriage. They were introduced through family friends, and after around 90 minutes of conversation, the pair felt a connection as they learned about each other’s likes and dislikes.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Puja Pabari recalled their first meeting: “When we met and started talking, he seemed very sincere and honest. We were like two good friends. It all felt very comfortable and that’s how everything began. (Love at first sight?) No, it wasn’t like that (laughs).”

Cheteshwar Pujara and Puja Pabari got engaged on November 6, 2012 and married on February 13, 2013. They welcomed a daughter, Aditi, on February 23, 2018.

Puja Pabari, six years Cheteshwar Pujara’s junior, was born on September 16, 1993. She holds an MBA in Retail Management and previously worked as an HR head. Additionally, she trained in interior design at the Rachna Sansad Institute of Interior Design in Mumbai.

Today, Puja Pabari is a successful businesswoman, running her own interior design company, The Great Eastern Caregivers. She is also actively involved with several charitable organisations. In 2025, Puja Pabari co-authored a book with Namita Kala titled The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife: A Very Unusual Memoir.
