A couple of companies have shown interest in joining hands with the BCCI as Title Sponsors following Dream11’s reported exit. If media reports are to be believed, the fantasy gaming platform has informed the BCCI that it will no longer sponsor the Indian cricket team after the ‘The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill’ was passed by both houses of parliament on Thursday.

The decision has left the BCCI searching for a new sponsor ahead of the Asia Cup, which begins on September 9 in the UAE. According to NDTV, two companies have shown interest in becoming the Indian cricket team’s title sponsor.

“Toyota Motor Corporation and a Fintech start-up have all shown interest till now. However, the official tendering process has not started yet,” the report stated.

The report further stated that Team India’s jerseys for the Asia Cup, featuring Dream11, have already been printed. However, they will not be used for the continental championship.

Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Friday said that the board will follow the laws of the country.

“If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government,” Saikia said.

According to a report in The Indian Express, Dream11 officials met BCCI CEO Hemang Amin at the board’s Mumbai office and conveyed their decision to step away.

“(Representatives of) Dream11 visited the BCCI office and informed CEO Hemang Amin that they won’t be able to continue… As a result, they won’t be the team’s sponsors for the Asia Cup. The BCCI will float a new tender soon,” the report quoted a BCCI official said.

Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE

The Asia Cup kicks off on September 9, with the final scheduled for September 28. The tournament will be held in the UAE, with matches hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
