Indian batting stalwarts Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma continue to dominate the ODI batters’ rankings, holding the top two spots, with Virat Kohli in fourth place. This comes even as Australian players made significant advances after their performance against South Africa in the recent series finale in Mackay.
Gill (784 rating points) and Rohit (756) are ranked first and second, respectively, with Pakistan’s Babar Azam (739) in third place. Kohli holds 736 points.
Although the Indian team has not played any ODIs recently, Kuldeep Yadav (650) and Ravindra Jadeja (616) have maintained their positions at third and ninth in the latest ODI rankings for bowlers.
Rohit and Kohli, who have retired from T20Is and Test cricket, remain active in the ODI format.
Both last played ODIs in February 2025 during the ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE, where they were instrumental in India’s title-winning campaign.
Australia posted an enormous 431/2 in the 50-over match at Mackay, with Travis Head (142), Mitch Marsh (100), and Cameron Green (118 not out) each scoring centuries.
These performances boosted their rankings, with Head moving up one spot to 11th, Marsh climbing four places to 44th, and Green leaping 40 positions to 78th.
Australian Josh Inglis also advanced, improving 23 spots to 64th after scoring 87 in the second match of the series against South Africa.
Who Is No. 1 Bowler?
The competition among the top ODI bowlers intensified as Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana joined South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj at the top with 671 rating points following the series between South Africa and Australia.
Maharaj’s rating dropped slightly after returning figures of 1/57 in the series finale, bringing him equal with Theekshana, who did not play during the week.
The biggest mover in the ODI bowlers’ rankings was South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, who climbed six places to 28th after taking seven wickets in the three games against Australia.
Australia’s Sean Abbott (up nine places to 48th) and Nathan Ellis (up 21 spots to 65th) also made progress following commendable performances during the series against South Africa.
