Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has asked Mumbai to stay safe as the city continues to endure a flood situation after heavy rainfall took place in India’s financial capital for the past few days, putting almost the entire area under water, with multiple pictures and videos circulating on social media.

Although the last two days have seen better weather in Mumbai, the situation was bad till Wednesday, with immense suffering for people.

Incessant rains over the past few days in various parts of Maharashtra, including the capital Mumbai and its metropolitan region, had thrown life out of gear.

Hundreds of people had to be shifted to safety because of flooding, which damaged crops on a large scale as well.

Goodness me, the videos I’ve just seen of the rain and water in Mumbai – 😱!!! Please stay safe! 🙏🏽,” Pietersen tweeted on Friday afternoon.

Pietersen, over his cricketing career and IPL stints with multiple teams, has developed a close connection with India. He has often visited wildlife sanctuaries like the Ranthambhore National Park. He has shared his appreciation for Indian street food like Mumbai’s special vada pav and pani puri.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, 782 passengers were rescued after two overcrowded Monorail trains on elevated tracks got stuck between stations in Mumbai on a day of torrential rains.

The intensity of rains started to ease on Wednesday, putting life back on track, days after heavy rains battered the financial capital, submerging roads, rail tracks and leading to flight and train disruptions.

Notably, the meeting ahead of India’s Asia Cup squad announcement also got delayed by over an hour after flight disruptions led to the late arrival of a few office-bearers to the city.
