Pakistan have announced their squads for the upcoming T20I tri-series and Asia Cup scheduled to take place in the UAE from 29 August to 28 September. Salman Agha will continue to lead the side as the team coached by Mike Hesson continued to snub senior pros Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam from the shortest format.

Pakistan are placed in Group ‘A’ alongside India, Oman and UAE. They will begin their campaign on September 12 against Oman followed by the highly-anticipated India clash on September 14 at the same venue.

Having been drubbed in the ODI series decider by 202 runs in the West Indies last week, Pakistan will aim to regroup and brace for the continental rigours when they travel to the UAE for a tri-series T20 tournament between August 29 and September 7. The tri-series, featuring Afghanistan, Pakistan and UAE will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

While Babar and Rizwan continued to be overlooked, the senior players who earned a spot are pace bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, as well as dependable batters such as Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah. Star wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris also kept his spot. The selectors have also reposed their faith in young names like Hasan Nawaz, Salman Mirza, and Sufyan Moqim.
