Former South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock included only one Indian cricketer in his all-time left-hander’s XI. In the last 93 years, many great left-handers like Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Irfan Pathan and Arshdeep Singh, among others, have represented Team India, but de Kock only included Jadeja in his southpaw XI.
His list features three cricketers from Australia, but there was no place for Mitchell Starc and Adam Gilchrist, and he also included two players from Pakistan and four from Sri Lanka.
Starc has picked up 402 wickets for the Australian team in Test cricket and has 244 and 79 wickets, respectively, to his name in ODIs and T20Is. On the other hand, Gilchrist finished his career with 5570 runs in Tests, 9619 in ODIs and 272 runs in 13 T20Is.
32-year-old De Kock, who finished his career after playing 54 Tests, 155 ODIs and 92 T20Is for South Africa, included Matthew Hayden and himself as openers in the all-time left-hander’s XI and mentioned Sanath Jayasuriya’s name for the third position. The legendary Sri Lankan batter was followed by Kumar Sangakkara and Mike Hussey.
Chaminda Vaas, Wasim Akram, Mohammad Amir and Mitchell Starc are four pacers included in the all-time XI by De Kock, whereas Jadeja and Rangana Herath are the two spinners.
Herath played 93 Tests, 71 ODIs and 17 T20Is for Sri Lanka from 1999 to 2018 and dismissed 433, 74 and 18 batters, respectively. On the other hand, Jadeja has 3886 runs in 85 Tests in addition to taking 330 wickets. In ODIs, he has 231 wickets and 2806 runs to his credit in 204 matches, and he finished his T20I career with 515 runs and 54 wickets in 74 matches.
