A revised squad has been announced for the South Zone ahead of their Duleep Trophy 2025 semifinal match.

Kerala batter Mohammed Azharuddeen has been named the South Zone captain for the Duleep Trophy semifinal against North Zone, starting on September 4 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Azharuddeen replaces Tilak Varma, who was initially appointed as the South skipper but will not participate in the Duleep Trophy due to his selection in the India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Azharuddeen, previously the vice-captain, sees his former role handed over to Tamil Nadu’s N Jagadeesan. Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore will also miss the semifinal for South Zone as he is still recovering from a hand injury that caused him to skip the recent Buchi Babu Trophy.
Ankit Sharma of Puducherry and Shaikh Rasheed of Andhra have been added to the South squad for the Duleep Trophy semifinal. Both players were already named in the standbys. Ankit, a left-arm spinner, has taken 168 wickets from 68 First-Class matches, while Rasheed, a 20-year-old top-order batter, has scored 1204 runs from 19 Ranji Trophy games. He was selected by Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2025.

Standbys: Mohit Redkar, R Smaran, Edhen Apple Tom, Andre Siddarth.
