India ODI captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly finished undergoing a series of fitness tests at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru as he eyes competitive return. Rohit, along with several other India cricketers including Test captain Shubman Gill and pace spearhead, checked into the facility recently.

The fitness assessment marks the start of preparations for a packed international calendar for India stars who have been enjoying a deserved month-long break following an intense tour of England earlier this year.

The players have to pass the YoYo test and newly introduced Bronco test.

Rohit was seen exiting Mumbai Airport earlier on Sunday. The 37-year-old appeared in a good mood as he interacted with the paparazzi while sharing a joke or two.

Rohit’s next competitive match?

Rohit has retired from Tests and T20Is and therefore he won’t be seen in action anytime soon even as other India cricketers will fly to the UAE for the Asia Cup to be played in T20 format.

The veteran opener has been sweating it out in Mumbai under the guidance of his close friend and former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

Rohit hasn’t played any competitive cricket since IPL 2025 while his last India appearance was the Champions Trophy final in March where he top-scored to set up a thrilling win over New Zealand.

Rohit will be back in action during India’s white-ball tour of Australia where they are slated to play three ODIs and five T20Is in October-November.

The ODI series will be played from October 19 to October 25 with matches to be held in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.

However, there are unconfirmed reports that Rohit might turn out during a three-match one-day series between India A and Australia A to get some match practice before departing for Australia.

The three matches will be played at Kanpur’s Green Park on September 30, October 3 and October 5.
