Sri Lanka were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first ODI against Zimbabwe. The team was penalised five per cent of their match fees for the infraction in Harare.

Jeff Crowe from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after the touring side fell one over short of the target, taking time allowances into consideration.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over their side fails to bowl within the allotted time.

Skipper Charith Asalanka admitted to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, making a formal hearing unnecessary.
