Spinner Nasum Ahmed achieved remarkable figures of 3-21, aiding Bangladesh in a nine-wicket victory over the Netherlands in the second T20 international on Monday, thereby securing the three-match series.

Bangladesh bowled out the visitors for a meager 103 and chased down the target in 13.1 overs, securing a 2-0 series lead in Sylhet.

“As a captain, I want to win every series, but it’s not possible every time,” Bangladesh captain Litton Das said. “All credit goes to the team members. It was a brilliant effort from the bowlers. We’ve been having a camp here for the last two weeks, and they’ve put in extra effort in practice. There was a little bit of grip in the wicket, but they bowled really well and executed their plan. They knew how to bowl to the wicket, with their variations and everything… And because we’re preparing for the Asia Cup, this is a crucial win for us. We’ll try to build our team day by day. It’s a good sign that whoever comes into the team, they deliver on their job. At the end of the day, if you win, everything will be fine.”

Bangladesh, having won their third consecutive T20 series, maintained their momentum ahead of the T20 Asia Cup, commencing on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates.

Left-handed opener Tanzid Hasan scored 54 and formed an unbeaten 64-run partnership with skipper Litton Das, who contributed 18.

The victory was primarily set up by Bangladesh’s bowlers, with Nasum, one of two changes in the team, taking two wickets consecutively in the third over.

Dutch captain Scott Edwards faced the hat-trick ball from Nasum but was later dismissed for nine by left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman.

Opener Vikramjit Singh scored 24 off 17 balls before falling to pace bowler Taskin Ahmed, one of only three batsmen to reach double figures.

The Netherlands’ wickets continued to tumble, managing only 17.3 overs after being asked to bat first.

Number nine Aryan Dutt scored 30, helping the team surpass 100 before becoming the last wicket to fall.

Bangladesh’s chase began briskly with Parvez Hossain Emon scoring 23 off 21, and after his departure, Tanzid and Litton guided the team to victory.

The series finale will take place on Wednesday at the same venue.
