Afghanistan look to avenge their defeat in the first match of the ongoing T20I tri-series in the United Arab Emirates and make quick amends against Pakistan in the fourth match in Sharjah on Tuesday, September 2. Rashid Khan’s men, who suffered a painstaking loss in their opening game of the competition versus their arch-rivals led by Salman Ali Agha, will be hoping to level up against them and take a giant leap towards securing a place in the final.
Familiar woes with the bat came back to haunt the Afghans in the tri-series opener on Friday (August 29), as they collapsed to a paltry 143 all out after being set an imposing target of 183 by a Pakistan side that managed to disrupt their spinners and seamers alike in the decisive first half of the contest.
Agha led his troops from the front, scoring a terrific 53 not out off just 36 deliveries before Haris Rauf’s 4 for 31 took the match completely away from Rashid & company. Pakistan also pulled off a comfortable win against the UAE and sits pretty on top of the points table.
