Pakistan hosts South Africa for Tests, T20Is, and ODIs, marking South Africa’s Test return after three years and ODI cricket’s comeback to Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad after 17 years.

Pakistan to host South Africa in October for 2-Test series
Pakistan will host South Africa for a 2-match series, marking the beginning of Pakistan’s ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign, followed by 3 T20Is and as many ODIs next month.
The Test series will be significant as it marks South Africa’s return to Pakistan in the longest format after more than three years. The Proteas last toured in early 2021, when they suffered a 2-0 defeat against a Babar Azam-led Pakistan side. This time, the contest promises to be equally competitive, with both teams eyeing a strong start to the new WTC cycle.
Following the red-ball series, the two sides will shift focus to white-ball cricket, playing three T20 internationals and three ODIs. The limited-overs leg will be spread across multiple venues, with one historic return on the cards. Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the ODI series, hosting its first 50-over international in 17 years. The last ODI at the ground was played in April 2008 against Bangladesh.
The tour will provide Pakistan valuable home advantage while offering South Africa a chance to redeem themselves after their previous Test setback in the country.
Speaking on the announcement, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed said, “We are looking forward to welcoming South Africa for the opening series of our ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign.
“The return of ODI cricket to Faisalabad after 17 years is a special moment. Iqbal Stadium holds a proud place in our cricketing history and we are excited to bring international cricket back to this part of the country.”
