The tri-series culture is thriving again in cricket. On the day of the ongoing UAE tri-series final between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the latter’s cricket board has announced another such series for November.

This will be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and will involve Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The tri-series will be played between November 17 and 29 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore. Exactly like the UAE tri-series, the three teams will play each other twice in the six-match group stage, and the top two will compete in the final on November 29 in Lahore.

Pindi will host only the first two matches, with Afghanistan playing both Pakistan and Sri Lanka back-to-back.

“This is an encouraging development, as the Afghanistan National Team continues to compete against the top teams regularly,” The Chief Executive Officer of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Naseeb Khan, said. “These matches are being held to serve as ideal preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup for all three participating teams. I am hopeful that Afghanistan will perform well in these games, and I trust our fans will find this series as a great source of joy.”

This jam-packs the Afghanistan men’s calendar. They have performed exceedingly well in the UAE tri-series, which will be followed by the 2025 Asia Cup, which begins on September 9 in the same country, though it’ll be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In October, they’ll also host Bangladesh for three ODIs and as many T20Is. Afghanistan will play Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup group, as well as these bilateral rubbers.
