England pacer Jofra Archer has moved closer to the top spot in the ODI bowlers’ rankings following their recent home series against South Africa, which ended in a 1-2 defeat for England.

Archer claimed eight wickets in the series, including an impressive spell of 4-18 in the final match at Southampton. As a result, he climbed 16 places to reach third position in the updated ODI bowlers’ rankings.

The right-arm pacer now trails the No.1 ranked ODI bowler, Keshav Maharaj, by just 26 rating points. The South African spinner retained his top spot after taking eight wickets in the series against England, according to ICC reports.

Archer’s teammate Adil Rashid also made progress, moving up seven places to eighth on the ODI bowlers’ list.

In the batting rankings, England’s Joe Root rose five places to 19th, Jos Buttler climbed seven spots to 35th, and Jacob Bethell surged 56 positions to 65th in the latest update.

What About Latest ICC T20I Rankings?

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s successful T20I tri-series involving hosts UAE and Afghanistan resulted in several players improving their positions in the updated T20I rankings.

Pakistan left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem advanced seven places to 15th overall after his two-wicket haul in the final. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi jumped four spots to 22nd, while leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed climbed 39 positions to equal 27th after taking six wickets in two appearances at the event.

Mohammad Nawaz, awarded Player of the Series for his 10 wickets, moved up 13 places to 30th on the T20I bowlers’ list, which is still led by New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy.

In the T20I batting rankings, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman rose nine places to 68th after scoring 155 runs during the tri-series. Sri Lanka’s top-order player Kusal Perera gained three positions to move to ninth following his unbeaten half-century against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Furthermore, Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza climbed three places to fourth overall on the T20I all-rounders’ list after a series of solid performances against Sri Lanka.
