Hosts United Arab Emirates on Wednesday were bowled out for just 57 runs in 13.1 overs in their Asia Cup opener in Dubai, registering the lowest-ever T20I total against India, going past New Zealand’s tally of 66 all-out in Ahmedabad in 2023.
Put in to bat first, it was expected that India would be able to restrict the UAE to a low score, given their star-studded bowling line-up, but the hosts couldn’t put up any fight against the visitors.
But the UAE would repent that they were 26/0 in the fourth over and as soon as ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Alishan Sharafu, they fell like a pack of cards, to be bowled out for just 57.
Star Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4/7) and Shivam Dube (3/4) were the leading wicket-takers while Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy got one each.
