South African spin-bowling all-rounder Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the remainder of the Proteas’ ongoing T20I series against England with a left groin strain.
All-rounder Bjorn Fortuin has been named as Maharaj’s replacement for the final two matches of the series, the first of which will take place at Manchester on Friday night.
Maharaj, who is the No. 1 ranked ODI bowler in the world, did not take part in the rain-shortened five-over match at Cardiff as South Africa opted for extra bowling cover in the form of Corbin Bosch and Lizaad Williams.
He is the second South African bowler to be ruled out of the series, after Lungi Ngidi, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury. David Miller was also ruled out of the series with injury.
