England recorded the third-highest Powerplay score of all-time against South Africa in the 2nd T20I between the two sides at Manchester on Friday.
Openers Jos Buttler and Phil Salt added 100 runs in the first six overs, as South Africa had no response to a brutal English assault. Buttler was particularly brutal, scoring 65 from 24 deliveries, notching a half-century in 18 balls. Buttler was eventually dismissed for 83 from 30 balls.
The effort is England’s highest Powerplay score of all time, and the third-best of all-time. The highest score in the Powerplay of a T20I is 113, managed by Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh for Australia against Scotland at Edinburgh in 2024.
