Mohsin Khan praises Jasprit Bumrah’s unique bowling, likening him to Richard Hadlee, and highlights Mohammad Siraj’s potential

Former Pakistan batter Mohsin Khan have lavished high praise on India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, comparing him to the legendary New Zealand fast bowler Richard Hadlee.

Mohsin emphasised Bumrah’s unique bowling style and rare skill to generate movement even on placid batting tracks, calling him an extraordinary bowler of the modern era.

“What makes Bumrah special is that he bowls with just 7-9 steps, in which he actually walks for the first 2–3, and still manages to produce swing and seam from his wrist. He is one such bowler in today’s date who is difficult to face even on good batting tracks, just like Richard Hadlee,” Mohsin told news agency PTI.

Siraj Very Good But Bumrah Extraordinary

The former cricketer also spoke highly of Mohammad Siraj, describing him as a valuable addition to India’s pace attack. “Siraj is a very good find for India, but he needs to bring control as well. He has got a lot of potential. But Bumrah is something extraordinary,” he added.

‘Babar Not a Bad Batter’

His views on Pakistan’s current mainstay Babar Azam are both appreciative and cautionary.

“Babar isn’t a bad batter,” he says, choosing his words carefully.

“But you need a clutch of quality players around him to support him. Look at Virat Kohli—in Tests he had Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul. In ODIs he had Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. A great player is made even greater when surrounded by other strong players.” Babar and Rizwan are not part of the Asia Cup, and Mohsin attributes this to the pressure on them to score runs.

“If you are always put under pressure to score centuries every time you step out, they are humans too—hence at times you aren’t able to play the game the team requires you to play.” He contrasts that with Pakistan’s past batting line-ups. “During our time, there was Majid Khan, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, and later Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, and Younis Khan.”
