As many as six players from India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad have played at least one T20I match against the Pakistani team in the past.
The Indian men’s cricket team will face Pakistan in their second Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. The high-voltage match between the two teams is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In the last 18 years, Team India have played 13 T20I matches against the 2009 T20 World Cup winners and managed to win 10 of them. Of those 10 wins, seven have come in the T20 World Cup and two in the Asia Cup.
In the last T20I match played between the two teams on June 9, 2024, in New York, India successfully managed to defend the total of 119 runs to secure a win by six runs.
As many as six players who played in that match for the Rohit Sharma-led side are part of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad as well.
Here’s a look at how the members of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad have performed against Pakistan in T20Is:
Suryakumar Yadav: India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has played five T20I matches against Pakistan so far but could only manage to score 64 runs with a strike rate of 118.51. Surya’s highest score in T20Is against Men in Green is 18, which he registered during the Asia Cup 2022 match played in Dubai on August 28, 2022.
Hardik Pandya: In seven T20Is against Pakistan in the last nine years, legendary all-rounder Hardik Pandya has scored 91 runs and picked up 13 wickets. The Baroda-based cricketer is India’s highest wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game against the Pakistani team.
Axar Patel: All-rounder Axar Patel has scored 22 runs and picked up one wicket in two T20I India-Pakistan matches played so far.
Shivam Dube: Shivam Dube has only played one T20I for India against Pakistan. In one match, which was staged in New York last year, he was only able to score 3 runs from nine balls as a No. 6 batter and didn’t bowl.
Jasprit Bumrah: Bumrah will lead India’s bowling attack against Pakistan on Sunday, and he has picked up five wickets so far in four T20I matches against Men in Green. In the last T20I match played between the two teams on June 9, 2024, Bumrah finished with figures of 3/14 in four overs to win the POTM award.
Arshdeep Singh: Arshdeep Singh is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is. Of his 99 wickets in T20Is so far, he had picked up 7 in four matches against the Pakistani team. In the India-Pakistan 2022 T20 World Cup match played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Arshdeep dismissed three batters for 32 runs in four overs to register his best bowling figures against them in the shortest format of the game.
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy and Jitesh Sharma are yet to play a T20I match against Pakistan.
