Shubman Gill shares batting tips with Hong Kong cricketers ahead of India vs Pakistan Asia Cup clash, fostering cricket ties.
India’s T20I vice-captain, Shubman Gill, was seen interacting with several Hong Kong cricketers on Saturday, September 13, while sharing batting tips, a day ahead of India’s marquee clash against Pakistan, a win in which will almost seal India’s spot in the Super 4.
Hong Kong’s batters endured a night to forget in their Asia Cup opener against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, managing only 94/9 in pursuit of a 189-run target.
While the cricketers were preparing for their upcoming clash against Sri Lanka, they had an encounter with the Indian contingent too, who are all set to face Pakistan in a Group A contest on Sunday.
“Let the body take over. The more you think, the more it will affect. You must think as little as possible. You have heard about people being in the zone, right? What is the zone? You reach the zone when you think less, the ball is coming to you and you just react,” Gill said.

With batters like Gill, skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and quality spinners such as Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, India’s XI looks formidable on paper. In contrast, Pakistan are still finding their rhythm under new captain Salman Ali Agha.
Still, given the unpredictable nature of the format, an upset is always possible, though against this Indian team, the opportunities appear slim.
Among Pakistan’s brightest talents, opener Saim Ayub, middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz and the spin trio of Abrar Ahmed, Sufiyan Muqeen and Mohammad Nawaz will be eager to make a statement in a refreshed team that has moved away from its old reliance on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
