Afghanistan has confirmed that fast bowler Naveen-ul Haq has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2025 with a shoulder injury.
In a post on X, the team confirmed that the experienced pacer was still recovering from the injury, and had not been passed fit by the team’s medical staff. He will now continue his rehabilitation as he looks to return from the injury.
Naveen did not feature in Afghanistan’s Asia Cup 2025 opener against Hong Kong, and missed the tri-series with Pakistan and UAE in the build-up to the series. He was last in action during the Major League Cricket (MLC) competition for MI New York in June.
His place in Afghanistan’s Asia Cup 2025 squad will be taken by Abdullah Ahmadzai. Ahmadzai‘s only international appearance for Afghanistan came against UAE during the tri-series, where he took one wicket from his three overs.
