Colombo joins New Delhi and Bengaluru as venues for the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup by CABI.

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced on Tuesday that Colombo has been added as a neutral venue for matches involving Pakistan during the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup. Originally, Kathmandu was chosen as the neutral venue, but due to the volatile situation in Nepal, Sri Lanka has been included as an additional host, as stated in a press release by CABI.

This decision was made following a virtual meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) on Monday. CABI officials will soon start consultations with their counterparts in Colombo to manage the arrangements.

The tournament, scheduled from November 11 to November 25, will also take place in New Delhi and Bengaluru. It will feature 21 league matches, two semi-finals, and a grand finale, with games distributed across New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo.

Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Chairman of CABI, expressed his sentiments about the World Cup, stating, “This World Cup is more than just a tournament, it is a celebration of courage, skill, and inclusion. Hosting it in India is a matter of pride, and I am confident our girls will rise to the occasion, inspire millions, and make the nation proud.”

In addition to India, teams from Australia, England, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the USA will participate in the tournament.
