Star Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who last played at Lord’s in India’s five-match Test series against England, didn’t find a place in the India A XI that will take on Australia A in the first of two four-day games in Lucknow from Tuesday. The start of the game has been delayed by over two hours due to rain.

According to a report in Sportstar, Reddy was seen bowling full tilt on one of the side tracks, but he didn’t feature in the playing XI.

Reddy scored an unbeaten 52 against the England Lions in May and since then has registered scores of 34, 42, 1, 1, 30 and 13.

Reddy, who suffered a knee injury during the recent England tour, made a comeback into the India A squad, but one would assume that he hasn’t recovered fully to play a four-day game.

Reddy featured in the second and third Tests of the England series in July before being sidelined because of injury.

According to reports, Reddy had picked up the injury while training in the gym and a BCCI update confirmed that he was out of the series and would fly back home.

Reddy didn’t make much of an impact in Birmingham, with only two runs and six wicketless overs.

Reddy, however, took crucial top-order wickets at Lord’s, sending back openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the same over in the first innings and dismissing Crawley again in the second.

Reddy would have fancied his opportunities of playing the fourth Test, but the injury cut short his England tour.

On Saturday, September 6, Reddy bowled a lengthy spell to Sai Sudharsan and Ishan Kishan at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. It needs to be seen what issue arose with his fitness, which led him to be snubbed from the India A XI.
