India registered its third-highest total in Asia Cup history during the contest against Oman at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, India posted 188/8 in its 20 overs. Sanju Samson top-scored with 56 from 45 balls, while Abhishek Sharma and Axar Patel also made useful contributions. Captain Suryakumar Yadav did not bat for India.
The total is also tied for the fourth-highest total in all Asia Cup T20 matches, along with the 188/6 Afghanistan scored against Hong Kong in the tournament opener.
India also holds the highest total in the Asia Cup. It scored 212/2 against Afghanistan at Dubai during the Asia Cup 2022. Virat Kohli top-scored during the match, with an unbeaten 122 from 61 deliveries. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then produced a remarkable new-ball burst to end with figures of 5/4 as India cantered to a 101-run victory.
