Shoaib Akhtar called Sanju Samson a weaklink for India, saying KL Rahul would have won India the match faster against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4s.
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar called Sanju Samson a weak link of the Indian cricket team, adding that if KL Rahul had been in the side, Pakistan would have lost the match sooner.
India triumphed over Pakistan by six wickets in their Asia Cup Super 4s match. Earlier, India had also secured a victory against Pakistan by seven wickets in the group stage.
What Shoaib Akhtar Said About Sanju And KL?
“Imagine iss team mein KL Rahul nahi hain. Sanju Samson ke jage KL Rahul banta hain. Woh toh nahi hain. Patake deta hain, chipka ke.. sahi kisam ke. Toh yeh weak link tha apka Sanju Samson. Match ek over pehle gaya. Otherwise toh match itna late jan hi nahi tha. KL rehta toh, shayad yeh match paach over pehle khatam kar deta,” Shoaib Akhtar said on the Pakistani ‘Game On Hai’ TV show.
Shoaib Akhtar Lashes Out At Coach
The former Pakistan pacer also lashed out at coach Mike Hesson’s selection calls.
“The coach should be asked the questions – where are his brains? It is just senseless coaching and senseless selection of the team. It is beyond me, it feels like I am the one who is a fraud, who doesn’t understand a thing after playing 15 years of cricket,” Akhtar was quoted as saying.
“In the last five-six games, we have been saying just play the right team. In an important fixture, you thought about playing Hussain Talat? How did you even think about it? What is his utility? Tell me,” he added.
Shoaib Akhtar had earlier weighed in on Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal, claiming that the outcome of the India vs Pakistan match could have been different if the batter had remained at the crease.
Shoaib Akhtar Attacks Umpires
“Who knows, if Fakhar had stayed at the crease, the match might have turned out differently.”
Akhtar criticised the decision’s speed and fairness, describing it as hasty, shocking, and completely unfair. He believed the match could have changed if Fakhar had not been dismissed. Akhtar also challenged the ICC to show footage from all 26 camera angles.
“Umpiring standards were a joke. The ball clearly hit the ground first. The glove was not underneath at all,” he added.
