Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara will replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals for the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo on Thursday, “Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara will return to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a lead role to helm the coaching staff after the exit of Rahul Dravid as head coach recently.”

According to the available information, RR is all set to retain Vikram Rathour as the assistant coach, and former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond will continue his role as the bowling coach. It has also been reported that Trevor Penney and Siddhartha Lahiri, who were part of Sangakkara’s support staff at RR previously, are also set to return.
