India ODI captain Rohit Sharma is sweating it out and how! The veteran batter has been working out in the gym ahead of his much-awaited return to competitive cricket having last played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025.

Training under the watchful gaze of close friend and former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, Rohit has shed an impressive 10 kgs.

Nayar revealed Rohit’s new look on social media, captioning the image “10,000 grams later, we keep pushing”.

Rohit last featured for India in March this year when he produced a player-of-the-match winning performance with the bat in the final of the Champions Trophy against New Zealand to fire his team to title triumph.

Rohit Clears Fitness Test

Earlier in September, the centrally contracted India cricketers flew to BCCI Center of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru for a pre-season fitness test. Rohit was among the India stars to check in at the facility and reportedly cleared the drills that included Yo-Yo test, a DXA Scan, which is a simplified method to test bone density.

When Will Rohit Return To Action?

It’s expected that Rohit’s first competitive match will be on October 19 when India face hosts Australia in the first game of a three-match ODI series. However, there were speculations that the 38-year-old, alongside Virat Kohli, could play in the unofficial ODI series for India A against Australia A later this month in Kanpur. However, neither has been named in the squad for the three-match series.
