On Friday, September 26, during India’s Super 4s match against Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he entered his name in the history books by becoming the first cricketer (full-member teams) to score 50 boundaries in a T20I series/tournament.
In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, Abhishek has hammered 31 fours and 19 sixes so far.
He scored 61 runs from 31 balls against Sri Lanka on Friday and during his stay at the crease smashed 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Before Abhishek, the record of scoring the most boundaries in a T20I series/tournament was in the name of Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan. Dilshan played seven matches for Sri Lanka in the 2009 T20 World Cup and scored a total of 49 boundaries (46 fours and 3 sixes).

During his 61-run knock against Sri Lanka on Friday, Abhishek also completed 300 runs in the Asia Cup 2025. He is the first cricketer to score more than 300 runs in one edition of the Asia Cup T20Is.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is second on the list with 281 runs in six matches of the 2022 Asia Cup, and Virat Kohli is third on the list with 276 runs in the 2022 Asia Cup.
