Rahul Chahar took seven wickets for Surrey against Hampshire in the final round of the County Championship 2025 at The Oval, London, on Friday.
Chasing an unlikely victory after conceding a 101-run first innings lead, a furious Surrey batting effort saw it post a target of 181 for Hampshire to chase on the final day.
Chahar began by removing opener Fletcha Middleton for 18, before running through the rest of the Hampshire line-up in no time. Also among Chahar’s scalps was fellow Indian spinner Washington Sundar, who fell by offering a catch to Surrey captain Rory Burns. He would eventually finish with figures of 7/45 from 20 overs.

The match was tantalisingly poised when it was called off due to bad light, with Surrey needing a single wicket for victory with Hampshire 33 runs short of its target.
Chahar, who was appearing in his first match for Surrey, took nine wickets in the match, having taken 2/67 in 20.4 overs in the first innings.
The Rajasthan leg-spinner has not appeared in a Test match for India, but has played one ODI and six T20Is for the country.
