West Indies have lost their pace spearhead to injury just a week before the start of their India tour.
A week before the start of their two-match Test tour of India, West Indies have suffered a major injury blow that has forced them to include an uncapped fast bowler for the series. West Indies are scheduled to face India for their first series of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle from October 2 in Ahmedabad.
Fast bowler Shamar Joseph has picked up an injury which has ruled him out of the entire tour. Johann Layne, who is yet to play an international match, has been called up as replacement.
“Johann Layne has replaced Shamar Joseph in the squad for the test series against India,” West Indies Cricket announced in a post on social media on Friday morning.
“Joseph has been ruled out due to an injury and will be re-evaluated ahead of the Bangladesh limited overs series,” it added.
