In the ongoing unofficial 2nd Test between India A and Australia A, KL Rahul and B Sai Sudharsan have struck century apiece.
In a mammoth chase of 412, KL Rahul and B Sai Sudharsan have struck centuries during the fourth and final day of the 2nd Unofficial Test between India and Australia being held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Rahul had retired hurt yesterday on 74 with 30 minutes left in the day’s play reportedly as a precautionary measure. However, on Friday, he walked out to bat after the dismissal of nightwatchman Manav Suthar on 5.
The 33-year-old then went on to complete his century, the 22nd of his first-class career.
Post the lunch break, Sai Sudharsan also reached three figures but was out immediately afterwards. He scored 100 off 172 with the help of nine fours and a six. This is the 8th first-class century of his career.
Rahul didn’t play in the first game of the two-match series and managed 11 runs in the first dig before being dismissed by Will Sutherland in what was a disappointing display by the India A batters. After Australia A were bowled out for 420, India A were bowled out for 185 and thereby handing the visitors a big 235-run first innings lead.
Sudharsan waged a lone batter in India A’s first dig, scoring a fighting half-century before being dismissed for 75 off 140.
India A are chasing 412 to win the contest and the series on the final day.
Rahul, Sudharsan In Test Squad
Both Rahul and Sudharsan will return to action for India next month with the two-match Test series against West Indies at home. The duo has been picked in a 15-man squad to be led by Shubman Gill.
Rahul, who returned to competitive cricket with the 2nd unofficial Test in Lucknow, had a fruitful tour of England where he scored 532 runs from 10 innings at an average of 49.91.
On the other hand, Sudharsan, who made his Test debut on the tour, had a mixed outing after starting his career with a duck. He scored 140 runs in six innings including a half-century in Manchester.
