“Hardik Pandya told me I look very fit,” Sunny-G, as he is fondly known, said.
“So I told him, alright, consider me for the Mumbai Indians during the IPL,” he revealed.
Pandya has led the Mumbai Indians, the joint-most successful franchise in the history of the cash-rich Indian Premier League tournament, for the past couple of years.
Team India secured their berth in the final of the ongoing Asia Cup event with their wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh in the Super 4 stage of the competition, and will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the summit clash of the continental trophy.
India opened the event with a 9-wicket win over UAE, before getting the better of Pakistan in the group stage encounter between the neighbouring nations in a 7-wicket triumph. India concluded their group stage engagements with a 21-run victory over Oman.
Indian faced off against Pakistan yet again in the Super 4 of the event, and the Men In Blue managed to pick up yet another 6-wicket win over the heated rivals, before securing their place in the championships clash of the event with their win over Bangladesh by 41-runs.
Pakistan punched their ticket to the final with a 5-wicket win over Sri Lanka followed by a 11-run victory over Bangladesh in their Super 4 clashes following their defeat to India.
India will play an inconsequential Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka on Friday.
