Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris’ lapse in game awareness against Bangladesh in Dubai cost a run but his gritty innings kept his team in the contest.

Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris cost his team a run during a rough patch of play against Bangladesh on Thursday in Dubai, as some poor game awareness ensured that he didn’t bother to check if his bat had touched the line and awarded his team a run.

In the 10th over of the first innings, Haris had smacked Mahedi Hasan for a boundary on the third ball. He then took a single and handed captain Salman Ali Agha the strike.

The captain ran two on the penultimate delivery of the over and the duo attempted to run another two runs on the final ball.

Haris first declined the second run, then forgot to ground his bat when he went for it, leaving Pakistan with just a single.

It was a lapse in awareness and a funny viewing for anyone not rooting for Pakistan. Watch the video here:

Despite the blunder, Haris, Pakistan’s standout batter in the tournament, kept his side in the contest with a gritty knock.

After Pakistan were reduced to 71/6 in the 14th over, Haris and Nawaz added 38 runs for the seventh wicket to take Pakistan to a respectable score.

Ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, along with a fortuitous Mohammed Nawaz, contributed with crucial knocks after a total of even 100 seemed far away.

It began when controversial opener Sahibzada Farhan cut a rising ball from Taskin Ahmed, offering a catch to Rishad Hossain at backward point. The dismissal marked Taskin’s 100th T20I wicket.

Saim Ayub, the highly-rated Pakistan youngster, recorded his fourth duck after he was unable to beat mid-on off Mahedi Hasan’s off-spin.

Star Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman, Hussain Talat and Agha were dismissed before the side reached 50.

However, Afridi, Haris and Nawaz smacked some crucial sixes, aided by a few dropped catches, helping Pakistan go past the 125-run mark.
