Pakistan fan’s emotional plea to Haris Rauf ahead of the India Asia Cup final goes viral as Pakistan bag a historic showdown after defeating Bangladesh.

A Pakistan fan requesting star pacer Haris Rauf not to let India win the Asia Cup final has gone viral on social media, with the former’s earnest and emotional request leaving Rauf with a smile on his face even as the audience tried to calm the man down.

Pakistan’s bowlers rose to the occasion in Dubai on Thursday, defending a paltry 135 with grit to seal an 11-run victory over Bangladesh in the Super 4s and book their first-ever Asia Cup showdown with arch-rivals India.

Given the simmering off-field tensions between India and Pakistan, the ACC and tournament broadcasters would be the biggest beneficiaries, grinning all the way to the bank after Bangladesh botched their chase.

India ko chhodna nahi,” the Pakistan fan made an earnest request to Rauf, holding his hands. The pacer nodded with a smile and also blew a flying kiss towards the audience. Watch the video here:

The exchange between Rauf and the fan has only intensified the fiery buildup to Sunday’s final in Dubai.

Bangladesh fought hard till the end, finishing at 124/9 in 20 overs. The chase was well within reach with some sensible batting, but their batters kept throwing it away after Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi set the tone with a fiery new-ball spell, picking up two wickets in the powerplay.

After Rauf dismissed the in-form Saif Hassan, who had threatened with two sixes, the rest of the Bangladesh lineup crumbled without resistance.

Rauf then cleaned up the tail with two lightning balls and held his nerve to deliver the last two balls right on target.

Meanwhile, the hearing against Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and Rauf, on a complaint filed by BCCI, will be held on Friday, after the duo made certain gestures which weren’t taken well by the Indian board.
