Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 11 runs to reach the Asia Cup final, setting up the first-ever India vs Pakistan final.

Pakistan cruised into the Asia Cup final with 11-run win against Bangladesh in their final Super 4 fixture on Thursday. Despite the batting unit biting the dust, Pakistan managed to pull off a heist to scheduled their rematch with India on Sunday in Dubai. It will mark the first India vs Pakistan encounter in the final of the Asia Cup.

India, who have been unbeaten so far in the tournament, were the first to qualify to the grand finale of the continental championship. They have defeated Pakistan twice in the past couple of weeks convincingly. However, captain Salman Ali Agha is confident about his team defeating any opposition with the spirit which help them knock out Bangladesh.

“The way we bowled up front, we will create pressure. We bowled well with the new ball. More often than not you will win games if you bowl like this,” Salman Ali Agha said at the post-match presentation.

Agha said Pakistan will return Monday to prove themselves once again.

“We are a good enough team to beat anyone. We will come back on Sunday and try and do that,” he added.

The Pakistan captain further praised Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying, “Shaheen is a special player. He does what the team needs of him. Very happy for him.”

Pakistan suffered a horrific batting collapse against Bangladesh on Thursday night. They were 71/6 in 13.3 overs when Mohammad Haris’ shouldered the innings with a 23-ball 31, dragging the men in green 135/8. Agha admitted that the team needs to focus on its batting before heading into the all-important final against India.

“If you win these kinds of games, then we must be a special team. Everyone played really well. There is some improvement needed in batting. But we will work on that,” he said.

Pakistan’s bowlers delivered when it mattered most, defending a modest 135 to beat Bangladesh by 11 runs in a thrilling Super 4s clash on Thursday. The victory sets up a historic Asia Cup final against arch-rivals India, a first in the tournament’s 41-year history.

Bangladesh fought hard but ultimately fell short, finishing at 124 for nine in their 20 overs.
