Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi to pay Haris Rauf’s fine after Super 4s clash with India, reports Samaa TV.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi will pay the fine imposed on Haris Rauf personally, according to a report in Samaa TV. Naqvi, serving as the current head of the ACC as well, took swift action after Rauf had 30% of his match fees docked for using ‘abusive language’ during the Super 4s clash against arch-rivals India.
As per several reports, Rauf had a portion of his match fees deducted for using ‘abusive language’, but the penalty will now be covered by Naqvi, who serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister as well.
Rauf attended an official hearing before Richie Richardson on Friday, where he pleaded ‘not guilty’.
Pakistan had lodged a complaint against India skipper Suryakumar Yadav for political remarks as well, after he dedicated India’s September 14 win against their arch-rivals to the Pahalgam terror attack victims.
Suryakumar pleaded not guilty to the charge but was told not to make any statement that could be construed as political in the remainder of the Asia Cup.
Not just Rauf, Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has also been in question. The latter has pleaded not guilty to any code of conduct violation for his gunfire celebration during the same game.
The hearing was held by Richardson at the Pakistan team hotel in Dubai. Both the cricketers appeared before him in person, even though the responses given by them were in writing.
The two were accused of making provocative gestures by BCCI in a formal complaint on Wednesday. The bitter neighbours are due to clash in the final of the regional showpiece on Sunday, September 28.
While Rauf had mocked the Indian fans in the stands by gesturing about falling planes, Farhan’s celebration after his fifty in the match was seen as offensive by the Indian team as well.
The International Cricket Council is yet to come out with an official statement on the matter.
