After India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the Super 4s match on September 21, Surya said that India vs Pakistan is not a rivalry anymore.

Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha addressed media persons on the eve of the Asia Cup 2025 final against India in Dubai, and during the presser, he gave a six-word reply to India captain Suryakumar Yadav for his ‘no rivalry with Pakistan anymore’ comment. After India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the Super 4s match on Sunday, September 21, Surya, while speaking to reporters in the post-match press conference, said there is no rivalry with Pakistan anymore, as India have a very dominant record against the Men in Green.

According to Surya, two teams are considered as rivals when there’s a very close gap between them in terms of matches won and lost, but in the case of India-Pakistan in T20Is, there is no such thing, as India have won 12 out of 15 matches played so far against them.

Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki aap logo ko ye question puchne ab band kar dena chahiye puchna rivalry ke upar because rivalry… Mere hisab se agar 2 teams 15-20 matches khel rahi hai aur usme agar 7-7 hai ya 8-7 se koi aage chal raha hai toh usko achha cricket khelna bolte hai aur usko rivalry bolte hai. 13-0, 10-1, mujhe pata nahi kya stat hai, but this is not a rivalry anymore (you guys should stop asking about the rivalry. If the two teams are playing 15-20 games & the scoreline is 7-7 or 8-7, then it is called rivalry. If the scoreline is 10-1 or 13-0, I don’t know the exact number, but this is not a rivalry anymore),” Surya said on September 21.

During the presser on Saturday (September 27), Agha was asked about Surya’s comments, and he gave a six-word reply to India’s T20I captain.

Hum sabko idea hai, humne batting nahi kari us tarah ki iss tournament mei, toh ho sakta hai humne apna best final ke liye rakha ho (We all are aware that we have not batted as per expectations in this tournament so far, but it is also a possibility that we might have saved our best for the final). Inshallah, final mein he best nikle,” Salman said.

The match in Dubai on Sunday will be the first India-Pakistan final in the history of the Asia Cup. In the past 16 editions, India and Pakistan never faced each other in the summit clash.
