Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face off for the third time in Asia Cup 2025 when they clash in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Indian players opted against the customary post-match handshake with their counterparts in the first two games, due to the ongoing political tensions between the two nations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council after the first match, and alleged that match referee Andy Pycroft did not allow the team captains to shake hands at the toss. It even threatened to not play its group-stage game against the United Arab Emirates.

Pycroft was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing by the ICC and Pakistan played the UAE game after a meeting with the Zimbabwean. He even officiated the Super Fours match between India and Pakistan.

However, Pycroft will not be on the roster in the final, with former West Indies international Richie Richardson being named the match referee.
