India pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave a send-off to Haris Rauf after castling him in the Asia Cup 2025 Final in Dubai on Sunday.
The Pakistan player was seen taunting the Indian fans when the teams played in the Super Fours stage. Multiple videos from the stands showed him gesturing a plane crashing down with his hand while stationed at the boundary, alluding to the military conflict between India and Pakistan earlier in the year.
Bumrah repeated the same gesture when he knocked off Rauf’s off stump during the 18th over of the innings, dismissing Rauf on six runs. Rauf had picked a boundary with off an edge earlier in the over.
Rauf was also involved in a verbal altercation with Abhishek Sharma during the Super Fours match.
The games between India and Pakistan during this Asia Cup have stirred up controversy due to the ongoing political tensions between the nations.’
First, India captain Suryakumar Yadav and his team refused the customary handshakes with Pakistan after their group stage match. Pakistan then filed an official complaint with the ICC and threatened to boycott games before eventually continuing in the tournament.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha also missed the pre-match press conference before the side’s Super Fours match against India.
