Tilak Varma rescued India from a spot of bother, scoring a mature half-century to guide the team to victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday.
After Faheem Ashraf and Shaheeh Shah Afridi struck early to remove India’s top three, Tilak struck crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube to help the team get past the 147-run target with five wickets in hand.
Earlier, Pakistan failed to capitalise on a solid start given by openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, losing nine wickets for 33 runs to get bowled out for 146 in the final over of the innings. Kuldeep Yadav was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up four wickets for 30 runs in his four-over spell.
