Gautam Gambhir’s passionate celebration over Tilak Varma’s crucial six off Haris Rauf goes viral on social media.
India scripted on Sunday night, crushing arch-rival Pakistan by 5 wickets to win the Asia Cup 2025. At the heart of this scintillating victory was Tilak Varma, who showed grit, patience and fearlessness during his unbeaten 69-run knock. But what stole the show was head coach Gautam Gambhir’s reaction to Tilak’s six off Haris Rauf in the final over.
India required just 10 runs when Shivam Dube was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi near the boundary, sparking late tension. However, Tilak Varma held his nerve and guided India across the finish line to secure victory.
With 8 needed off 5, Tilak deposited Rauf’s hard-length delivery into the stand, sending a wave of joy in the Indian camp. Gambhir, sitting in the dugout with a palm face, suddenly burst into celebration and banged the table hard.
Tilak levelled the score with an easy single before Rinku Singh, playing his first game in the tournament, sealed a historic win for India with boundary over mid-on.
Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69 steered India to their ninth Asia Cup title with a five-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai. Chasing 147, India slipped to 20 for 3 before Tilak rebuilt with Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33).
Earlier, Pakistan, powered by Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46), reached 113 for 1 but collapsed to 146 all out. Kuldeep Yadav (4/30), supported by Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy, spun a web around the middle order. Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery yorker to dismiss Haris Rauf, followed by a cheeky send-off, added spice as India triumphed under pressure.
