‘India Are Favourites, But…’: Wasim Akram’s Words Of Wisdom For Pakistan Ahead Of Asia Cup Finals | Cricket News

The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup is set for a blockbuster finale with Team India slated to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the summit clash on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates.

India and Pakistan have already met twice in the ongoing tournament with the men in blue on the positive side of the results on both occasions. Suryakumar Yadav and co. will look to go three-for-three against the cross-border rivals to cap off the tournament with the silverware and bragging rights.

Despite the odds tilting in favour of India, Pakistan legend Wasim Akram had a word of advice for Salman Ali Agha and co. ahead of the summit clash.

Akram shed light on the importance of early strikes and wickets at regular intervals in order to perturb India’s momentum and called for Pakistan to back their strengths.

“The final is between India and Pakistan. India is definitely the favourite, but anything can happen,” the former skipper began.

“Pakistan must maintain confidence and momentum. They must believe in themselves and play smart cricket,” he said calling on Pakistan.

“If Pakistan takes early wickets, they can put India on the back foot. I hope the best team wins in the end,” he added.

India faced Pakistan once in the group stage of the event before clashing again in the Super 4 round of the continental event as the Men In Blue held their nerve to register resounding victories both times. Team India coasted to a 7-wicket win in the first encounter between the sides in the event in the UAE and went on to double down on their showings with another 6-wicket triumph over the neighbouring nation to establish dominance en route to the final.

Pakistan, who took the scenic route top the final despite their twin defeats at the hands of India, will hope for a third-time-lucky scenario as the game ges underway on Sunday.
