Narendra Modi hailed India’s ninth Asia Cup win as they beat Pakistan by five wickets in Dubai. Kuldeep Yadav starred with 4-30, Tilak Varma scored 69 not out in a tense chase.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to celebrate Indian men’s cricket team beating Pakistan to win the 2025 Asia Cup title.

“#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter.

India defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the final to clinch their ninth Asia Cup title at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

After being put into bat, Pakistan could not build on an 84-run opening partnership between Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) and were bowled out for 146 with five deliveries remaining in their innings.

Pakistan lost their last nine wickets for just 33 runs in a spectacular collapse, with India’s left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4-30) leading the destruction.

Tilak Varma anchored India’s tense chase with an unbeaten 69, while Shivam Dube (33) provided support, helping the team reach the target with two deliveries to spare.

India Makes History

India secured their second T20 Asia Cup victory, with their first win in 2016, and their ninth overall title since the tournament’s inception in 1984, spanning all formats.

This final marked the first India-Pakistan showdown in the Asia Cup’s history, which began in 1984. The two teams had faced each other twice earlier in this tournament – once in the group stage and once in the Super Four, with India winning both matches comfortably.

Notably, India’s cricketers did not shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts after either of those games, and there were no handshakes at Sunday’s toss either.
