Abrar Ahmed gave a sendoff to Sanju Samson, tried poking the Indian wicketkeeper-batter before getting warned by the on-field umpire.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed tried to mess with Sanju Samson in the crucial Asia Cup final on Sunday. Drama unfolded in Dubai when the Pakistani spinner dismissed the Indian wicket-keeper batter and not only gave a send off but went closer to poke him. That’s when on-field umpire intervened and had a strict conversation.

Sanju Samson played a crucial knock against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday night. The wicketkeeper-batter anchored India’s chase of 147 with a gritty 24 off 21, stitching a 50-stand with Tilak Varma for the fourth wicket. However, his innings come to an end while trying to go aerial off Abrar Ahmed’s bowling. While Sahibzada Farhan grabbed a clean catch at backward point, Abrar gave Samson his usual sendoff.

It was the 13th over when Abrar spun the ball outside off. Sanju looked to whack it towards the off side but all he could manage a thick outside edge that went up in the air. Farhan completed a safe catch, while Abrar celebrated with a send-off — reminiscent of his act against Shubman Gill in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

The Pakistan spinner didn’t stop there. Abrar followed Samson, trying to poke the wicketkeeper-batter on his way back to the dressing room. On-field umpire Masudur Rahman observed the scene and pulled Abrar out of Pakistan’s huddle to have a word with him about his act.

Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 69, steering India to their ninth Asia Cup title with a five-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai. Chasing 147, India slipped to 20 for 3 before Tilak rebuilt with Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33).

Earlier, Pakistan, powered by Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46), reached 113 for 1 but collapsed to 146 all out. Kuldeep Yadav (4/30), supported by Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy, spun a web around the middle order. Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery yorker to dismiss Haris Rauf, followed by a cheeky send-off, added spice as India triumphed under pressure.
