England will be looking to secure its first title since it won on home soil in 2017. Central to its trophy aspirations will be Sophie Ecclestone, who recently re-entered the side after a break from the side.

Ecclestone will be taking part in her second ODI World Cup, having made her first appearance in 2022.

England needed until its final match to qualify for the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup, but once it got there, an outstanding all-round show from Sophie Ecclestone played a huge role in it reaching the final far more convincingly.

Ecclestone’s first involvement in the match came with the bat, providing a useful cameo of 24 from 11 deliveries with five fours to finish the innings as England posted a competitive 293/8

She then stamped her mark on the game properly with the ball. She began by removing South Africa’s all-round star Marizanne Kapp, before extricating Chloe Tryon and Mignon du Preez as England put on foot in the final. The tail would follow soon, and when Trisha Chetty walked past a good length delivery to hand Ecclestone her sixth, England had a 137-run victory and a place in the final.
