The 2025 edition of the competition will be Perry’s fifth, having appeared at every ODI World Cup since 2009.

Ellyse Perry missed large parts of the 2013 World Cup with an ankle injury, not featuring in any of Australia’s Super Six matches ahead of the final. However, Australia gambled on the then 22-year-old Perry, naming her in the playing XI for the final against West Indies at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Perry’s day began well, striking two fours and a six in a lower-order cameo of 25 from 22 deliveries to help Australia haul itself to 259/7 after a sluggish start with the bat.

However, it was with the ball that Perry truly broke the game open. After struggling through her first few deliveries, she ran through the West Indian top order, removing the top three inside her first three overs to set Australia on its way to victory. Australia would ease to a 114-run victory, and secure its sixth World Cup title in the process.
