R. Ashwin has gone unsold at the auction for the upcoming 2025 season of the ILT20.

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder had set his base price as $120,000, the highest in the auction. Ashwin had made himself available for the entire season, and was widely expected to be snapped up with three teams owned by IPL franchise owners in the competition.

Ashwin would have been the third Indian to be signed for this edition of this competition, after Dinesh Karthik at Sharjah Warriorz, and Piyush Chawla at Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.

Ashwin’s participation in the competition would have been an expansion of his continuing forays into franchise cricket after his retirement from the IPL. He is set to represent Team India in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament in November, and has also sealed a deal to represent Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League after the ILT20.

Ashwin has taken 72 wickets in 65 T20Is for India at 23.22. He has also been prolific in the IPL, taking 187 wickets in 221 matches, representing Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals.
