After their contrasting Asia Cup campaigns last month, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will face off in a six-match white-ball series, starting with the first T20 International at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The Afghans had a disappointing outing in the continental event, crashing out in the group stage after losing to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh had a spirited run in the tournament as it beat Sri Lanka and gave Pakistan a tough fight in the Super Fours, but failed to reach the final.
While star all-rounder Rashid Khan will continue to lead Afghanistan in the T20I series, wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali will step in as Bangladesh skipper in the absence of Litton Das, who is out due to injury.
After the three-match T20I series, which ends on Sunday, the two sides will lock horns in as many One-Day Internationals from October 8.
