Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty reacted with a heartfelt Instagram story for husband KL Rahul, who scored his 11th hundred on Friday against the West Indies on Day 2 of the first Test in Ahmedabad. This was his first Test hundred at home after almost nine years.

The milestone was personal for Rahul. He had scored a hundred in India back in 2016 during the Chennai Test, remembered for Karun Nair’s triple century. This time, his celebration told a different story.

After raising his bat and kissing the Indian badge on his helmet, Rahul added a heartfelt gesture, sucking on his middle and ring fingers.

The gesture was a heartfelt dedication to his baby daughter Evaarah, born in March, with his wife Athiya. The couple, married in January 2023, keep their private moments under wraps, making Rahul’s tribute a touching and rare public celebration of fatherhood.

Shortly after, Athiya reacted on Instagram. Sharing Rahul’s celebration, she wrote, “The best for his best” with a heart emoji, her brief yet emotional message capturing the moment.

Rahul’s time at the crease was cut short after lunch. Just 10 minutes after Athiya’s Instagram story, he was dismissed for 100 off 197 deliveries, a knock that included 12 boundaries.

Rahul was dismissed by Jomel Warrican, who floated one outside off. The former went for a drive but could not keep it down, giving an easy catch to Justin Greaves.

Despite falling short of a bigger score, Rahul’s knock had already put India in control. By lunch, India led by 56 with seven wickets in hand, boosted by skipper Shubman Gill’s fluent fifty earlier in the day.

Rahul batted with resolve and had his share of luck early in the day when an edge flew between the ‘keeper and wide first slip as well, to score his second Test hundred against the West Indies and his first in India since December 2016 when he made 199 against England in Chennai.
