Sai Sudharsan could only manage to score 7 runs from 19 balls for Team India in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.
Tamil Nadu batter B Sai Sudharsan came out to bat at No. 3 for Team India in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad but could only manage to score 7 runs from 19 balls. During his stay at the crease, he added 22 runs for the second wicket with KL Rahul but failed to score any boundary for the hosts.
He was sent back to the pavilion by West Indies’ captain Roston Chase. On the fifth ball of the 25th over of India’s first innings, Chase trapped him in front of the wickets and brought an end to his innings.
After Sai, who earned his maiden India Test call-up during the India tour of England earlier this year, failed to fire, he faced a lot of criticism from fans on X.
Many X users feel that Sai is still not a finished product, whereas some even questioned the selector’s decision to pick him over Karun Nair for the home series.
Sai Sudarshan is getting more chances.Than deserving players like Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ruturaj Gaikwad who don’t get any chances after doing so great in domestic leagues.Stop selecting players on the basis of IPL. pic.twitter.com/ZpwJOVdqnC

Sai Sudharsan needs to realize one thing, he won’t get many chances at number 3. 147 runs in 7 innings at 21 avg isn’t enough.Others are waiting with good domestic records & performances. If he can’t turn talent into numbers, it will be tough for him to hold that spot.

Sai Sudarshan got out on third class spinner of West Indies.– In all 7 innings, he has only 1 half century batting at no.3
– If he doesn’t justify his talent in this series then keep playing domestic and IPL.

One of the users tweeted that in home conditions against the bowling attack of the West Indies, Karun would have scored a triple century for the Indian team.
Karun, who made headlines for his super show with the bat in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy for Vidarbha, played four Test matches in England, but he was not able to do much with the bat. Due to his ordinary show with the bat, he was axed from the squad for the ongoing two-match series against the West Indies.
Bumrah and Siraj shine
The first Test between India and the West Indies kicked off at Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday (October 2), and thanks to super bowling performances by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, India bowled the West Indies out for 162 runs in the first innings.
Siraj bowled 14 overs and picked up 4 wickets for 40 runs, whereas world No. 1 Test bowler Bumrah finished with figures of 3 for 42 in 14 overs. In his first Test for India since October 2024, Kuldeep also picked up two wickets, and one West Indies batter was sent back to the pavilion by Washington Sundar.
For the visitors, Justin Greaves top-scored on Day 1 of the first Test. He came out to bat at No. 7 and, with the help of four fours, scored 32 runs from 48 balls.
